If they actually try it, here's a simple way to defeat its scannability; wrap it in aluminium foil. That forms a "Faraday Cage", whereupon you can ask any government nannies where the 4th Amendment says they have the right to scan your drivers license without your consent--when they complain that their machine couldn't scan your license.
